SOLAS, a spectacular public interactive lighting display, has transformed Emmet Place into a magical wonderland for the holiday season. It is now open to the public, marking the beginning of Christmas celebrations in Cork City for 2023.
Visitors can experience the magic daily from 4pm to 11pm. Wander through the captivating space, where the lights dance in harmony with the music playing in the background. Picture yourself standing within the installation, surrounded by a mesmerizing 360-degree light show. Overhead orbs create a breathtaking display of colors synchronized with the music, or take control of the illuminations with a cutting-edge interactive touch screen, turning Emmet Place into a radiant masterpiece.
Join us every weekend from November 24th to December 17th for a festive atmosphere at Emmet Place and SOLAS. Enjoy family-friendly Christmas fun, featuring musical performances, singalongs, and other entertaining activities that capture the spirit of the season.
Cork City Council emphasizes the importance of Corkmas in supporting local businesses and celebrating the unique experiences and traditions that make Christmas in Cork truly special.
In addition to the SOLAS experience, witness the streets of Cork come alive with over seven kilometers of energy-efficient LED Christmas lights. St Patrick’s Street, Grand Parade, Oliver Plunkett Street, and adjacent areas like Opera Lane and Academy Street will sparkle and shine. Cork City Council, in collaboration with the Cork Business Association and independent outlets, has also adorned the city with 60 Christmas trees, adding to the festive charm across the city center, suburbs, towns, and villages.
