In previous posts we have tried to explain the philosophy of Ireland Experience. For us, language learning is just as important as cultural and personal immersion with host families. Our kids share unique life experiences in a city full of attractions and entertainment.
Cork is one of the places where Halloween is celebrated very passionately. One of the most popular events is The Dragon of Shandon Parade. It is a colourful display of music, dance and lots of costumes. This year, 2022, marks the awakening a new of our giant and beautiful beast, coming out of her slumber and calling out to her legion of otherworldly night creatures to celebrate Samhain. Last Monday’s night, three students from Ireland Experience met the beast and, scared to death, they wandered around the streets of Cork city. These pictures were sent as an evidence of their suffering.
The Pick-A-Pumpkin Festival in Curraheen is another events taking place in Halloween, including a Pumpkin Trail, Arts & Crafts, Music, Fancy Dress and lots more.
You can also see some Spooky screenings at Cork City Gaol. While in the summer it was outdoor movie nights on the big screen, moviegoers will have to brave the walls of the historic (and reportedly haunted) jail for some Halloween fun.
Youghaloween Spooktacular is a fab family festival in Youghal based on the ancient festival of Samhain with many events incorporating Youghal’s local folklore.
As you can see, last Halloween night was quite an experience for our students. At Ireland Experience we offer our students a total immersion in the culture, history and customs of Ireland, and especially of Cork, a wonderful city. Contact us and join this great family.
